#38 - Election Recap: Clerk's Race, Campaigns, Polls, Results, Dinners, Experiences

The Ridge Podcast — Wed, 15 Nov 2023 11:00:00 GMT

This episode is unique. Instead of their usual book talk or interview, Ethan and Luke discuss a recent, local event that they both had the opportunity to participate in: Election Day.

To be fully transparent, The Ridge Podcast is meant to be, and always will attempt to be, a politically neutral platform, covering all aspects in order to fully inform the voter. However, this does not mean that its hosts necessarily support the same candidates. Ethan supported the re-election of Gerald R. Goad for Clerk; conversely, Luke supported the election of B. P. "Phil" Hawks. Throughout all the episodes and interviews Ethan and Luke have tried to remain neutral on air and when interacting with fans in public. They hope that the listeners will understand.

That being said, Ethan had the opportunity to help Mr. Goad's campaign while Luke helped with Mr. Hawks's campaign. In this episode, they discuss the process, some differences, and their experiences on Election Day.

They both wanted to send their congratulations to each and every candidate who ran, regardless of the results. They also wanted to give a special thanks to those who have been on the podcast and shown their support; it would not be possible without them. Thank you all.

#7 - Clerk Gerald Goad: Historical Society, archivist, genealogy, WCC, Virginia Tech, advice

The Ridge Podcast — Fri, 14 Apr 2023 11:30:00 GMT

In this episode, Ethan and Luke interview Honorable Clerk Gerald Goad for the first thirty minutes. They briefly discuss his childhood, schooling, time at Wytheville Community College and Virginia Tech. Additionally, they discuss his musical career, scuba diving hobby, and his advice for younger generations in general. After that, for the rest of the episode, Clerk Goad gives us a tour of the facility.

Due to the difficulties of recording on the go, the audio quality may not always be consistent during the tour, conversely, the interview quality is up to our normal standard, if not higher. Ethan and Luke ask for the listener's forgiveness and understanding. However, in the coming weeks there will be a short video showcasing the visit, so stay tuned for that!

Thank you again Clerk Goad for being on the podcast.
